Pan Bagnat: delicious Nice local dish

Pan Bagnat is a tasty filled roll originating from Nice but famous all over the French Riviera. The name, Pan Bagnat, means soaked bread and the original recipe suggests to use the round crusty French bread or the local baguette. The bread is flavoured with garlic, salt, pepper and soaked in vinegar and olive oil. Pan Bagnat is filled with Niçoise salad prepared with hard-boiled eggs, peppers, onions, olives, garlic, tuna, anchovies, pickles, cucumbers and fennels. Other variations also figure tomatoes and lattuce.
Pan bagnat is a popular lunchtime dish in Nice, where it is sold in most bakeries and on most street stalls and kiosks all across the French Riviera region.
