Cimiez Monastery, nestled on the peaceful flowering hills surrounding Nice, was built by Franciscan monks and includes a beautiful group of buildings: Notre Dame Church and Franciscan Museum, which traces the history of the Franciscan convent from the 13th century to present day.
Franciscan Museum in Cimiez Monastery hosts marvelous works of sacred art, like some precious paintings by Louis Brea, and important religious documents.
Cimiez Monastery is surrounded by a wonderful flower garden from where visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view over the picturesque landscape. Near Cimiez Monastery, visitors can enjoy a visit of the ancient cemetery where the famous French painters Raoul Dufy and Henry Matisse are buried.
